• 1.Land Acknowledgement 

  Background: A  formal statement recognizing and respecting the Indigenous Peoples as the traditional stewards of the land on which we gather. It serves as a reminder of the enduring relationship between Indigenous communities and their ancestral territories.

• 2.Elizabeth Peratrovich Day Proclamation

  Background:

  Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, observed annually on February 16, honors the life and legacy of Elizabeth Peratrovich, a Tlingit civil rights leader whose advocacy was instrumental in the passage of the of 1945 Alaska Anti- Discrimination Act—the first anti-discrimination law in the United States. As Grand President of the Alaska Native Sisterhood, Peratrovich’s powerful testimony before the Alaska Territorial Legislature helped secure equal rights for Alaska Natives, paving the way for broader civil rights advancements.

  This proclamation recognizes Elizabeth Peratrovich’s contributions to justice and equality and reaffirms our commitment to upholding the values of inclusion, respect, and equal rights for all. By adopting this proclamation, we acknowledge the ongoing significance of her work and encourage our community to reflect on the importance of civil rights and advocacy.

• 3.Housing Committee 

  Background: The establishment of a Housing Committee is a proactive step in addressing housing challenges and opportunities within the City of Saxman. With increasing concerns regarding housing availability, affordability, and quality, this committee would serve as an advisory body to assess current housing conditions, identify needs, and recommend strategies to improve housing options for residents.

  Background: To review and approve the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau tours submission.
