NEW BUSINESS
Amy,
As you are aware NCDOT is moving along with the progress of the 221 Bypass project. As a part of this work, we are looking to rename portions of a few streets that will be bisected by the new route thus leaving addresses on both sides of the the highway. Left unchanged this could pose issues for emergency response, gps, deliveries, and just overall confusion. Southern Street crosses both Rutherfordton and Ruth and appears to have 3 parcels in each jurisdiction that would affected by a street name change. I did want to let you know that given that Southern Street Extension runs off Southern St on the Ruth side we are looking to rename the portion of the roadway in Rutherfordton. As we bring this discussion up again with the Town Council here I just want to give you a heads-up that this would not affect the parcels in Ruth, just in Rutherfordton.
If you have any questions please let me know.
