  1. A.Oct 1, 2024 Borough Election: Two 3-year terms for the Library Board were on the ballot. Alec McMurren and Julie Spigelmyre were elected. 

7.New Business

  1. A.Acknowledgement of donations to the Art Education Endowment: Since July, John McCabe has donated $36,000 to the Petersburg Library Art Education Endowment. His total contributions to date are $199,540.  With these latest donations, the fund balance now stands at $264,796. A letter acknowledging these donations is attached for the Board Chair to sign. 

  2. B.Art Education Endowment Funding Requests: An amount not to exceed $4,350 is requested from the Art Education Endowment for the following programs. The total spendable balance of the fund is $12,296. The library receives roughly $3000-$4000 annually in new spendable funds.

    For the following programs, funds will be used for instructor fees and supplies. Board members are asked to review the attached Art Education Endowment Guidelines when considering these requests:


    Watercolor Workshop - instructor Pia Reilly - 3 day workshop - $200

    Angel Ornament Painting - instructor Pia Reilly - $240

    Folk Art Painting - instructor Pia Reilly - $240

    Comic Drawing For Kids/Teens - instructor Gus Petersen - 2 classes - $900

    Rainforest Writers Workshops - instructor Orin Pierson - $1000

    Creative Aging Program (Music) - instructor Sarah Hanson-Hofstetter - $800

    Creative Aging Program (Sewing) - Instructor Mary Ann  Rainey - $1,150

  3. C.Minor Library Card Application: The library's library card application for minors, youth 17 and younger, has been updated with assistance from the Borough Attorney. It is included here for informational purposes.

8.Discussion Items

  1. A.Donor Recognition: This item is included as an opportunity for board members to debrief regarding the outcome of the July 2024 Board meeting. A thank you letter received from Lee Ribich is attached. 

  2. B.Friends of the Library Updates: The Friends held a book sale on Saturday Oct 5, Board Member Fish will provide a report at the meeting.

  3. C.Gratitudes

    Thank you to Gina Esposito for her service on the Library Board.

    Thank you to Sue Paulsen for leading the Lee Ribich event in July.

    Thank you to Don Cornelius for donating two paintings for the Friends silent auction, $625 was raised for the Art Education Endowment.
