PMC CEO Hofstetter will provide an update on the Medical Center.
Ordinance #2022-04, if adopted, will approve fund transfers to provide for: 1) the Electric Department 399 Cat Inframe Overhaul; 2) purchase of a new flatbed/plow truck for the Harbor Department; 3) acceptance of the $1,430,892 DCRA Local Government Lost Revenue Grant; and 4) unexpected rooftop snow removal and electric expenses for the Parks & Recreation Department. The ordinance was unanimously approved in its first reading.
A resolution opposing HB 303 and SB 180, which if passed will repeal the Ocean Rangers program, was requested by Assembly Member Lynn.
Assembly Members Meucci, Kensinger and Tremblay, along with other local groups working on issues facing the childcare/preschool industry in Petersburg, request the Assembly establish an Early Childhood Education Task Force to research possible solutions to the issues.
Utility Director Hagerman requests to purchase 30 pole mounted transformers from General Pacific for an amount not to exceed $54,150. Estimated shipping fees from Seattle to Petersburg are an additional $5,000 for a total purchase cost of $59,150.
Clerk Thompson is working on the Assembly budget for FY 2023 and requests approval of the Assembly Travel & Training line item set at $19,500.
Assembly Member Meucci requests approval to hold an Assembly work session to receive a one-hour presentation (via Zoom) from Brian Holst with the JEDC regarding Juneau's childcare issue and how they are handling it, from an economic development perspective.
Assembly Member Meucci requests approval to direct Manager Giesbrecht to inquire of the Fire Department members, paid and volunteer, about their preference regarding the Fire Chief. For many years, Petersburg's Fire Chief has been a Volunteer and Member Meucci would like to inquire about how the Department members feel about changing the Fire/EMS Director position to a Fire Chief position.
