Public comments are welcomed, but no action can be taken by the Commission on comments received at this meeting.  Anyone wishing to have the Commission vote on an item should call the Finance Office at 578-2600 by 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday preceding the next scheduled meeting to be placed on the agenda.

  3. c.American Legion Auxiliary #31 of Lead requests special alcohol license to serve beer and wine at Interpretive Lot during Kool Deadwood Nites on Friday August 26 and Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily.  No public hearing necessary since license is on publicly owned property.

  1. a.Allow use of public property on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Outlaw Square for Community Picnic.  

  2. b.Permission to accept letter of retirement from Fire Executive Officer Ken Hawki effective June 11, 2022. 

  3. c.Permission to accept letter of retirement from Police Lieutenant Anthony Bradley effective June 3, 2022. 

  4. d.Renew 2022-2023 Malt Beverage Licenses, pending payment of property tax and BID taxes.  

  5. e.Resolution 2022-11 In Support of Application to Occupy SD Department of Transportation Highway Right of Way for Days of '76 Parade July 29 and 30, 2022.

  6. f.Resolution 2022-12 to surplus police asset.

  7. g.Permission for the Mayor to sign contract with West Plains Engineering for design work on Upper Main Street.  (Approved by City Commission on May 2, 2022.)  

  8. h.Acknowledge refund check from Rapid Spa in the amount of $5,999 for the sauna that was returned.  (2021 purchase. Staff is constructing a new unit to replace the returned one.)  

  9. i.Recommendation from Parking and Transportation to allow use of City Hall Parking Lot on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  10. j.Permission to advertise in-house for 5 days and then in official newspaper for one full time patrol officer position. ($25.79 per hour for Certified and $23.22 for Non-Certified)

  11. k.Approve Livery Vehicle Permit for Deadwood Alive for 2022.  Approved by Parking and Transportation on May 5, 2022.

  12. l.Recommendation from Parking and Transportation to provide five (5) free 20-minute parking spaces in Welcome Center Lot.  

  13. m.Permission for Mayor to sign Oakridge Cemetery Certificates of Purchase and Warranty Deeds for Adrian P. Feyerheisen and Melisa S. Feyerheisen.

  16. p.Permission to Reimburse Deadwood Hospitality Resort LLC for asphalt maintenance performed on Timm Lane in the amount of $6,500.00.

  17. q.Permission to purchase 5,500 gallons of fuel at $3.86/gal (Total of $21,230.00) from Southside Oil.  (To be paid out of the Streets supplies budget.)

  18. r.Permission to hire Lynn Bradley for seasonal finance assistant at $13.27 per hour effective May 23, 2022 pending pre-employment screening.

  1. a.Permission to allow Adams Salvage Recycling and Recovery to add a temporary fuel surcharge fee of $5.00 to residential loads per vehicle and $7.00 to commercial loads per vehicle to the fee schedule for the Tri-City Rubble Site.  Fuel Surcharge does not apply during free weekends, free spring clean-up weeks, city vehicles, loads of brush, metal, or compost to residential customers.  If the price of fuel drops below $4.00 per gallon for thirty (30) consecutive days the fuel surcharge will be removed from the fee schedule.

  2. b.Permission to enter into contract with Interstate Engineering to perform bridge inspections on the four city maintained bridges in the amount of $12,112.95. (To be paid from Street Department Professional Services.)

  3. c.Permission to hire Dakota Pump to repair the play feature water pump at the recreation center in the amount of $4,083.00.  (To be paid from public building general maintenance budget.) 

  4. d.Permission to waive City pet licensing fees on May 26th, 2022 for City-sponsored Pet Licensing Day at Welcome Center. Veterinarian will be on onsite to offer discounted pet vaccinations, as well.  

  5. e.Review 2021 Unaudited Annual Report for the City of Deadwood.

  6. f.Reappoint Tony Williams and appoint Vicki Dar to the Historic Preservation Commission for three year terms ending May 31, 2025.
