Approval is requested for the adoption of the Solid Waste Management Plan for the Columbus Consolidated Government that covers the years 2019 through 2028. This plan has been developed to establish a roadmap to achieve the goals of reducing and managing solid waste within Muscogee County (except within the Fort Benning Military Reservation).
Approval is requested authorizing payment to employees for unused sick leave in accordance with 16B-15-6 (2) of the Columbus Code of Ordinances.
Approval is requested to apply, accept, and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount awarded up to $300,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The grant funding will be utilized to conduct Brownfield Assessments of properties within the south and midtown areas of Columbus per the attached map.
Approval is requested to apply for and accept a Federal VOCA (Victims of Crimes Act) Grant in the amount of $203,419 or as otherwise awarded from the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council; and approve the request for disbursement of funds from the 5% surcharge in the amount of $5,287 to help continue to fund the Solicitor General’s Victim Assistance positions and meet the matching requirement of the grant; and amend the Multi-Government Fund to reflect these revenues and expenses.
Approval is requested to authorize the Department of Transportation/METRA to apply to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for capital, planning and operating grants in the amount of $121,705 or otherwise awarded. The contract for financial assistance will impose certain obligations including the provision of the City share of project costs in the amount of $13,523 bringing the total grant amount to be $135,228. Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager or Mayor to accept grant funds if approved and execute contracts with GDOT.
Approval is requested to acquire 5601 Veterans Parkway in the amount of $2,500,000, plus the City’s portion of fees and closing costs.
