Approval is requested to enter into a lease agreement extension with Synovus Bank to lease the property at 4505 Buena Vista Road for $1.00 per year for a period of five (5) years, beginning February 9, 2021
Approval is requested to execute a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) for archival photographic recordation.to be conducted at Elizabeth Canty Homes Building 704. The City Manager's signature is required because the City of Columbus is the federal grantee of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development dollars.
Approval is requested to authorize the City Manager as Fiscal Agent, submit an application, and if approved, accept funds from the Georgia Department of Human Services for a Family Connection grant in the amount of $48,000, with no local match required, and to amend the Family Connection Fund 0985 by the amount of the grant awarded. The Children, Youth and Family Coalition exists to provide Family Connection activities in order to improve child health, including reduced incidences of teenage pregnancy, child abuse, neglect and other risk factors that impact on the well-being of Columbus children, youth and families.
Approval is requested to apply for and accept the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) grant from the U.S. Department of Justice for Fiscal Year 2022, in the amount of $45,690, or as otherwise awarded, with no local match required, and amend the SCAAP project budget by the amount of the award. SCAAP provides funding to local law enforcement agencies to cover certain costs associated with the incarceration of undocumented criminal aliens.
Approval is requested to authorize the Department of Transportation /METRA to apply to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for capital and planning grants in the amount of $2,526,077 or otherwise awarded. Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager or Mayor to accept grant funds if approved and execute contracts with the FTA.
Approval is requested to issue a request for qualifications soliciting interest from licensed animal rescues for the purpose of determining whether contracting out Animal Control Services would be feasible and beneficial to the CCG.
ADD-ON RESOLUTION:
Approval is requested to participate in a memorandum of understanding and intent regarding a community school strategy system. The Community School Strategy is a system of partnerships that links schools with academic, enrichment, health, and social service programs so that students and families succeed, and the community is strengthened. Parties enter the MOU to document a shared vision that every student and family have access to needed services that support educational success. The MOU would not require any direct funding of the City, but would allow the City to collaborate in furthering a community-based strategy approach to school related issues and assist in eligibility for a United Way grant application.
