PUBLIC SAFETY

• 1.Motion to approve allocating $13,500 from General Fund Contingency to the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) budget to support operational and compliance needs for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2026.

• 2.Motion to approve acceptance of the awarded $67,500 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, to be used to update the Augusta-Richmond County Multi- Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The total approved cost is $67,500 with a federal share of $50,625, a state share of $6,750, a local share of $10,125, and Subrecipient Management cost of $3,310.05.

• 3.Discuss Barton Chapel Village's ongoing safety issues described as a constant disruption of the peace — repeated gunfire, loud music, physical fights, and activity that resembles open drug trafficking. (Requested by Commissioner Lonnie Wimberly)

• 4.Motion to approve the award of RFP 26-154 EMS Medical Director Services for the Augusta Fire Department to Wellstar/MCG in the annual amount of $41,860. The contract term will be for two (2) years with the option to extend for three (3) additional one-year terms.

• 5.Addressing Homelessness in South Augusta. (Requested by Commissioner Lonnie Wimberly)

• 6.Motion to approve the minutes of the May 12, 2026 Public Safety Committee meeting.
